◎ ラオスなど拡大会合招待へ...伊勢志摩サミット （2016.4.7、読売）

政府は、５月２６、２７日の主要国首脳会議（伊勢志摩サミット）に、
ラオスやチャドなどアジア・アフリカ地域の７か国を招待する方向で調整に入った。
サミットでは、先進７か国（Ｇ７）とは別に、途上国首脳や国際機関トップを招いて
「アウトリーチ会合（拡大会合）」を開く慣習がある。
政府は、東南アジア諸国連合（ＡＳＥＡＮ）議長国のラオス、
アフリカ連合（ＡＵ）議長国のチャドのほか、インドネシア、ベトナム、
パプアニューギニア、バングラデシュ、スリランカを招いて、
開発や保健の分野で議論を行いたい考えだ。
８年ぶりにアジアで開かれるサミットとなるため、
アジア唯一のサミット参加国としての存在感を高める狙いがある。

Ｇ７伊勢志摩サミットの際に、Ｇ７以外の国々の首脳及び国際機関の長を招待して
開催する会合について発表をいたします。
この会合、アウトリーチ会合では、８年ぶりにアジアで開催されるサミットであることを踏まえ、
世界の成長センターとして経済成長を牽引するアジアが、豊かな繁栄を続けるために
何が必要かにつき、掘り下げて議論をしたいと考えております。
このような観点から、ＡＳＥＡＮ、アジアの島の国、インフラ需要のある国、
通商航路に依存する国を中心に、アジアからは、ラオス、ベトナム、インドネシア、
バングラデシュ、スリランカ、パプアニューギニアの首脳を招待いたします。
また、サミット成果をＴＩＣＡＤにつなげるべく、
アフリカ連合の議長国であるチャドの首脳を招待をいたします。
さらに、国際機関から、国連、経済協力開発機構、アジア開発銀行、国際通貨基金、
世界銀行の長を招待をいたします。
なお、本件会合では、アジアに焦点を当てた議論に加え、グローバルな観点から、
特に我が国が議長国として重視をしております、「質の高いインフラ投資」、
「保健」及び「女性」等に関しても議論したいと考えております。

◎ まるで映画！砂に書いた"HELP"で3人の遭難者が無事に救助される （2016.4.11、IRORIO)

アメリカ沿岸警備隊の飛行機が、無人島の砂浜に書かれた"HELP"の文字を発見し、
3人の遭難者を無事救助するという映画のような出来事があった。
その遭難者3人（名前は発表されていない）は、4月4日に全長8メートルの小船に乗って
プンナップ島を出発し、親類の住むウェノ島に向かったという。
その途中で突然高波に襲われ、船が転覆。
3人は夜の海を3km泳ぎ、パプアニューギニアから数100km離れたFanadik島という無人島
にたどり着いた。
水も食糧もないその無人島で、彼らは2日間助けを待ったが無駄だった。
このままではだめだと思った彼らは 、砂浜に大きな"HELP"の文字を書くことを思いついたという。
彼らは集めたヤシの木の葉を砂浜に並べ、"HELP"と書いた。
遭難した3人の捜索願いは5日に親類から出されており、
アメリカ沿岸警備隊の救助チームと海軍が捜索を続けていたが、
それまで3人を発見できないでいた。
だが、3人が砂浜に"HELP"と書いた翌日7日午前8時頃、海軍の捜索機パイロットがその文字と、
オレンジ色のライフジャケットを振る遭難者たちを見つけたとのことだ。

◎ PNG to host USA, Japan in three Nations Warm up tournament （2016.4.20, PNG Today)

The Papua New Guinea Under-20 FIFA women's World Cup team will host USA and Japan
in a three Nations- Warm up tournament.
The tournament will be held next month in Port Moresby at the Sir John Guise Stadium.
Never before has any American football team visited PNG likewise our Asian friends from Japan.
The three Nations -Warm Up tournament will see PNG play these two countries in a round robin format.
The name "Americans" will surely attract thousands all over Port Moresby and PNG.
PNGFA and OFC president David Chung confirmed this yesterday.
The trial is expected to give USA and Japan what to expect in November.
"As all is set and we are ready to welcome USA and Japan," Chung said.
"We are excited as our visitors will give our team a good trial."
PNGFA general secretary Dimirit Mileng in a letter to the USA Soccer Federation
confirmed PNG's hosting of the warm up tournament.
PNGFA and the president have worked tirelessly to bring
the Japanese and the American girls to PNG.
"It's not easy but as a team we succeeded to bring them over to our city
so now Papua New Guineans can watch these professional girls play against our team.
Bigger nations tend to play friendly with more tougher opponents
to get value out of their match practice which includes a lot of money.
PNG's unique challenges has lured these countries to find for themselves
what they need to be prepared for.
The Japanese girls arrive on May 22 and play PNG on May 24.
The girls from United States arrive on May 25th and play Japan on May 27.
The Americans then take on PNG on May 30 to end the warm - up tournament.
Meanwhile, the tournament will be held in Port Moresby at these 4 stadiums,
the Sir John Guise Stadium, National Football Stadium,
Bava Park Mini Stadium and the PNG Football Stadium.
16 training sites have also been identified and are being prepared
for the 16 participating nations who will be competing .
The Local Organising Committee for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup met with
the PNG Sports Foundation on Friday to discuss how the LOC will work with
the venues team during the hosting of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in November.
