第41回を迎えましたチャリティバザーは、アジア、大洋州の26か国の協力のもとに開催されます。
収益金は全て参加国の福祉、教育支援、災害援助のために使われます。
今年は、パプアニューギニアの大使夫人であります、Madam Anna Dusavaが
バザーの副委員長を務めております。
各国大使館の出店にて、各国の料理、ハンディクラフトなどを多数販売しています。

民族舞踊など様々な催しものも多数あります。

◎ パプアニューギニアでＭ８の地震 周辺国に津波警報 （2017.1.22、日経）

【シドニー＝共同】米地質調査所（ＵＳＧＳ）によると、
南太平洋・パプアニューギニアのブーゲンビル島で22日午後３時半（日本時間同１時半）ごろ、
マグニチュード（Ｍ）8.0の地震があった。
米ハワイの太平洋津波警報センターはソロモン諸島など周辺国に津波警報を出した。
震源はブーゲンビル島パングナの西40キロ、震源の深さは約154キロ。
日本の気象庁は日本への津波の恐れはないとしている。

◎ Shows Support for PNG as APEC Host （2017.1.25, EMTV)

Japan has shown its commitment to assist Papua New Guinea to be host to the
APEC Leaders Summit in 2018.
As part of its assistance, the Government of Japan through the Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has arranged for government
officials to undergo technical training programs on various fields in Japan.
The officers will learn about current global challenges and the best
solutions available from the expertise of Japan. The participants will be
empowered to contribute to APECs policy preparation for APEC 2018.
JICA, in collaboration with the PNG APEC Secretariat hosted a post-training
presentation session today. It was for government officials to present the
outcomes from their training programs arranged to support the PNG Government
in its policy preparations towards hosting APEC.
Chief Representative of JICA PNG, Takashi Toyama, said JICA will continue
its cooperation packages towards PNGs successful hosting of APEC as well as
better service delivery beyond APEC.
Director General of the PNG APEC Secretariat, Lahui Ako, said the
participants of these short training programs by JICA in Japan return and
provide feedback on how best the Secretariat can tailor its policy
priorities for next year.
The PNG APEC Secretariat is responsible for the formation of the theme and
the policy priority for 2018. Ako said the priorities are currently being
finalised and will cover issues on sustainable and inclusive growth, human
resource development, regional economic integration and structural reform.
So far, 14 government officials have been sent to Japan to undergo these
programs. It is hoped that by 2018, around 50 to 60 government officials
attached with the Committee for APEC Policy Issues will be capacity built
under these technical training programs.

トランプ米大統領（ロイター）
オーストラリア放送協会（ＡＢＣ）は２９日、ターンブル首相と電話会談したトランプ米大統領が、
南太平洋の島国でオーストラリアが収容している密航者を米国に移住させる昨年１１月の合意は、
継続していることを確認したと報じた。
オーストラリアはボートで上陸を目指してきた密航者をパプアニューギニア・マヌス島と
ナウルの施設に収容、対応に苦慮していたが、オバマ前政権との間で昨年１１月、
希望した密航者を米国に移住させる枠組みで合意した。
難民受け入れを厳しくする大統領令を出したトランプ氏が、
合意を破棄しないかがオーストラリア側の関心事になっていた。
移住は米側の審査の上、段階的に進められる見通し。（共同）

The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Hon. Peter O'Neill CMG MP, has
formally invited the President of the United States, H.E. Donald Trump, to
visit Papua New Guinea for the 26th APEC Leaders' Summit.
In correspondence with President Trump, Prime Minister O'Neill, highlighted
the unique nature of the APEC process and its relevance to economic
advancement for all Member Economies.
"I invite you to visit Papua New Guinea for the APEC Leaders' Summit on
17-18 November 2018, and meet with the other 20 APEC Leaders and Pacific
Island State Leaders," Prime Minister O'Neill said.
"APEC is a forum to expand investment, break down unjust bureaucratic
regulation to trade, and to confront issues that threaten our shared
economic stability and security.
Having only recently been sworn into office, President Trump is one of the
final Leaders to be invited to attend the APEC Summit in 2018.
"Almost all APEC Leaders have now been invited to attend APEC Papua New
Guinea 2018, and responded confirming their attendance.
"As a nation, we look forward to receiving Leaders, Ministers and delegates
from Member Economies and advancing the APEC agenda.
"APEC is not just the Leaders' Summit, but is a year of meetings and
workshops, that also serve to build capacity in our country.
"During the APEC year in Papua New Guinea more than 200 meetings will take
place covering policy areas, at the technical level, that are vital for
regional economic development.
"This includes areas such as agriculture, fisheries, disaster preparedness,
healthcare, forestry, science and technology, small business and energy.
